Sports Club Wexford – Commercial Solar Water Heating
Shelmalier GAA Club (Hurling, Football & Camogie Grounds), Co Wexford. Established in 1886, the club is undegoing extensive new build works to cater for the needs of a modern club. Some of which is supported by Sports Capital Grant Aid – Government Funding & partly by the National Lottery
P J Firman & Co, a Family run specialist heating company for over 50 years in Wexford were appointed to supply & install a Commercial Solar Water Heating System. The LSP20+ Premium Commercial Solar Panels from Hot Solar Water were chosen to meet the high hot water demand.
The solar thermal flat plate panels deliver hot water to C/W 1000 litre Pressurised Smartherm via the Dual Coil S/S Solar Cylinder, using Thesol as the heat transfer medium. The Thesol is a HIgh Quality antifreeze/anticorossion fluid produced by Thermosolar. It is approved for use in the food industry. The working conditions being;
Unfreezing temperature -32°C
Working temperature -32°C/+230°C (max. 2,5MPa)
Short term overheat temperature 300°C
The pressurised hot water demand will service 6 nos dressing rooms each with 6 nos push button showers. The solar panels are installed onto the Complex Galvanised Kingspan Roof. Highly insulated pipework with high temperature Armaflex, Pump Station and all system components and sundry materials being installaed into the Boiler House on ground floor.
The complex is the home of Shelmalier GAA Club, Shelmalier Ladies Football Club and St Ibar’s Shelmaliers Camogie Club. With a large number of registered members who use the facilities, together with a Community Gym and walking track.
With numerous underage and adult teams, both men and women, there is a constant high volume of usage. Club Facilities also host to many outside clubs and county games through the year – renowned for its excellant facilities nationwide!
